Responsibility Expository Paragraph
My Dog Cody by Tia Gregg
When I first adopted Cody, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Even though all dogs are hard work, this one was a real attention seeker.
As soon as I got to know Cody better, I noticed how poorly his fur had been pampered. Here came my first responsibility: grooming/cleansing. I had to groom Cody everyday in order for him to maintain a healthy coat of lustrous, soft-as-silk hair. Just by smelling Cody’s putrid fur you could tell that it was begging to be bathed. Tugging as hard as I could, I tried to battle his matted pelt, but as the same time trying not to get my new pet hurt. Carefully, I continued with rich, fragrant bubbles sooner; especially since he smelled like a decaying skunk. After I had finished that and moved to his bath, I squeezed a gumball-sized amount of aromatic shampoo/conditioner in the palm of my hand and massaged it all over my proud pooch. Rinsing him off, I admired his now healthy fur twinkling in the sunlight illuminating the room. Cody had just gone from skunk-scented to ambrosial.
By the time Cody had dried, it was 12:00. Time to feed him, which is another one of my tasks. Taking out his unused dish and kibbles, I retrieved a scoop to hoist the kibbles into Cody’s saucer. As the kibbles cascaded in Cody’s bowl, he immediately started munching happily until he finished. For dessert, I offered him a flavorsome biscuit to enjoy. Soon, Cody and I had a bond tighter that a Pit Bull’s bite.
Although I adore him, Cody is sometimes way too much work.

Winter By: Carlene Beaton
As it gets closer to the end of fall I start to think about Christmas and the white fluffy snow. The freezing weather has shown me that winter is almost here.
As I stand outside, I shiver watching the leaves run from place to place because the bone chilling winds. The temperature continues to drop 45,40,35,30. The ice cold rain starts to jump from the clouds and plummet to Earth. The small drops land cold and fresh on my face. After being hit by raindrops I race for home. I’m as happy as a kid with a lollypop because exciting winter is almost here.
